FedEx Accelerates India Network with Mega Cargo Hub

FedEx announced a $150 million investment to develop a mega air cargo hub at GMR Cargo City in New Delhi, spanning over 230,000sq ft. The investment will multiply package-handling capacity more than eightfold, from 600 to 5,000 packages per hour.
On August 25, 2026, FedEx held its ceremony at GMR Cargo City, located within the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) complex in New Delhi. We're announcing a $150 million facility, worth over ₹ 1,400 cr, that will integrate an air cargo hub at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, strengthening connectivity across North and East India and linking businesses with global markets.
It is being built across 230,000 square feet. The facility will massively boost packaging process capacity from 600 to 5,000 packages per hour.
FedEx's major investments in India include a 2025 hub in Bengaluru and a 300,000-square-foot fully automated air cargo hub at Navi Mumbai International Airport, involving an investment of more than ₹2,500 cr.
The ceremony was attended by India's Civil Aviation Minister, K Rammohan Naidu, who said India should be the backbone for air cargo movements. Alongside, Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha said efforts are underway to remove all bottlenecks for air cargo movement.
It is being designed to consolidate FedEx's international gateway, pickup, and delivery operations into one location, specifically targeting enhanced export connectivity for businesses across North and East India.
The Air cargo facility is expected to be completed within 12 to 18 months. FedEx Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa (MEISA) President Kami Viswanathan stated, “India is a critical market in its global network and that the air cargo hub in the national capital will enable the company to serve the north and east markets in India.” FedEx is a leading express transportation company and uses a global air and ground network for shipments.
