Synopsis

Rahul Gandhi has called on citizens, opposition parties, youth groups and civil society organisations to join a march to the Supreme Court on Monday, October 12, 2026. The opposition plans to submit a memorandum to the Chief Justice raising concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and EVMs, and demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Rahul Gandhi’s Video Message

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Sunday, October 11, 2026 released a video on social media inviting people to join the opposition parties’ march to the Supreme Court on Monday, October 12, 2026 to submit a memorandum against the SIR of electoral rolls and EVMs to the Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant.

Gandhi said in the video, “We will submit a memorandum to the Chief Justice on behalf of the nation, demanding an end to vote chori, halting of SIR and the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar.”

“Don’t be afraid. We will march together, with love, brotherhood and patriotism. Tomorrow, all of India will march to the Supreme Court,” he said, adding that they will demand the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

“Yesterday, the nation’s youth came out in Delhi to peacefully protest. They came with love in their hearts, not hatred or anger. They were beaten, both by cops and BJP goons.

“This is not the India we want. Tomorrow, we will march to the Supreme Court as Indians, united beyond party, gender, caste, community and state,” he said.

“Youth, all opposition parties, civil society groups, all those who believe in democracy and stand by the Constitution of India, will walk with us,” the Congress leader said.

The March to the Supreme Court

Earlier, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said opposition leaders would meet the Chief Justice of India (CJI) to apprise him of their concerns, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were creating chaos in the country.

Kharge said he had written a letter seeking an appointment with the CJI, adding that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, had also written to him. The party has sought time between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. for the meeting.

“Tomorrow, we are also going to meet the Chief Justice of India. I have written a letter, and Rahul has also written a letter. We have sought a time between 4 and 5 p.m. Now, let us see. We will also apprise him. We cannot demand anything from him. We will only request him with folded hands. These are the things that should be kept in mind,” he said.

Alleging that the government was creating an atmosphere of fear ahead of the announced youth agitation, the Congress chief questioned the deployment of a large number of security personnel.

CJP in Solidarity

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has backed INDIA bloc’s march to the Supreme Court over alleged “vote chori”, with CJP co-convener Ashutosh Ranka saying the organisation would participate in the protest.

“All of us, all political parties and student organisations who are fighting at their own level, stand in solidarity. Our team will be there. We hope the entire country comes together to fight this dictatorial regime,” Ranka told reporters.

Opposition parties led by Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi are scheduled to march ‘peacefully’ to the Supreme Court at 1.30 pm and submit a memorandum to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant over the alleged electoral malpractice.

Rahul Gandhi and Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge have sought a meeting with Chief Justice of India Surya Kant to raise allegations of “vote chori”. However, the CJI declined to meet Gandhi over the allegations.

Gandhi has also called for a news conference on the protest. In a post on X, he said, "March for Democracy. March for Justice. Chalo Dilli."
