Two people held for security breach hours before PM Modi’s NMACC event with fake PMO I’d, firearm discovered

On September 8, 2026, Mumbai Police and security officials held two men with suspicious government ID’s, claiming to be from the Prime Minister’s office (PMO), while one of them carried a gun at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Bandra Kurla Complex, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to attend the 7th edition of Global Fintech Fest, 2026.
Fake Government Id’s, gun Discovered
One of the persons, identified as 24-year-old Rohan Permal Parekh, claimed to be a member of PMO’s office. He was accompanied by 49-year-old Dilip Raja Kunde who posed as his bodyguard and was carrying a gun. Both of them managed to get past mall security to gain entry into the Jio World Plaza.
At the security checkup, officials grew suspicious of the credentials provided by the two men and cross-checked the information with other officials present, exposing the fake information and Id’s.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered and the accused have been detained and charged under several acts of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) including impersonation of public servants and unlawful entry. They have been sent under police custody till September 11, 2026 and will be produced before the Metropolitan Magistrate court.
The police said that the weapon recovered from the bodyguard was licensed yet its presence has prompted a detailed investigation into the purpose of carrying a weapon.
The case is being investigated by Mumbai Crime Branch who is questioning the two men to discover the motive of their visit. Moreover, they are examining how the fake PMO Id’s were obtained, how they managed to breach the security and any particular reason for carrying a weapon and attempting to reach the venue.

The detained man is reported to be 24 years old. He was accompanied by a bodyguard who was carrying a gun. The Mumbai Crime Branch is now conducting a further investigation into the matter” Mumbai Police said.

PM Modi, on Tuesday was attending the 7th edition of Global Fintech Fests (GFF) scheduled to be from September 8, 2026 to September 11, 2026 at the NMACC center. GFF is one of the largest and most influential annual fintech conference bringing together policymakers, regulators, central banks, financial institutions, fintech companies as well as other sectors and stakeholders, offering a platform to deliberate on the future of finance.
The theme of GFF 2026 is “Potential to Impact: Agentic AI, Tokenization, Quantum- Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance.”
Discussions this year will revolve around Agentic AI, programmable finance, quantum technologies and other critical and emerging technologies can create trusted, inclusive and measurable outcomes for citizens, enterprises and economies globally, said a statement.
