Jared Kushner to Visit Israel Next Week for Talks on Gaza

Synopsis

The main purpose behind President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner’s, visit to Israel will be to find a way to further implement Donald Trump’s 20- point plan for Gaza, which was presented in late 2025.

The Agreement

At the end of July, Trump said that an agreement has been reached on the complete disarmament of the Palestinian Hamas militants and other armed groups in Gaza.

Trump also added that the agreement will be implemented in stages. As the groups were disarmed, Israeli troops would leave Gaza while security in the territory would be provided by an International Stabilization Force together with a new Palestinian police force.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has publicly rejected Trump’s plan. Hamas has agreed to the plan provided that its implementation depends on Israel fulfilling its own commitments, which include the withdrawal of troops and ending the attacks.

The Ceasefire in Gaza

The ceasefire in Gaza, which has been in effect since October last year, has been violated multiple times. According to Gaza health authorities and Israeli estimates, since the ceasefire began, more than 1,250 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed in Israeli attacks. Militants have also killed four Israeli soldiers.

Hamas is generally not known for disclosing information about their losses. Israel’s military operation has caused widespread destruction in Gaza, from killing thousands of civilians to causing a widespread hunger crisis and displacing the territory’s entire population internally, further proving the fact that there has indeed been a widespread genocide in Gaza.

Israel, on the other hand, has described its actions as a form of self-defence following an attack by the Hamas-led militants in October 2023, when 1,200 people were killed and more than 250 hostages were taken.
