Investigators are probing whether evidence was deleted from the victim's phone during the period it remained with accused fiancée Siya Goyal

Siya Goyal, who is engaged to Ketan Agarwal, the realtor of Pune, had the mobile phone of the victim for a while after his alleged murder before handing it over to his relatives, police said on Wednesday.
Goyal, 20, and Chetan Chaudhary, 22, allegedly pushed Agarwal to his death from a cliff at Pune district's Lohagad Fort on June 18. The couple had planned to tie the knot sometime in November.
In the case of Agarwal, his phone was recovered by a police official after he was pushed off a cliff, Goyal said. Later she handed over the phone to his family, and we are looking to see if there was any incriminating evidence removed or manipulated while she had possession of the phone," the official said.
The prosecution had sought to extend the police custody of the accused duo for more time to determine if Goyal deleted or destroyed evidence from the device during this period. Goyal along with Chaudhary continue to be in the police custody till July 3.
On her own, Pune Rural Police recreated on Wednesday the crime scene at the fort with Chaudhary present while Goyal was present in another reconstruction.
Police have also quoted Vishal Agarwal, the father of Agarwal, in the complaint as saying that Goyal was involved with Agarwal's brother and he had been repeatedly telling the cops about Goyal's closeness to the brother of Agarwal and the fact that he had earlier sabotaged the couple's pre-wedding trip to Bali.
