Passengers Stage Protest Due to SpiceJet Flights Delay
Amid sloganeering “SpiceJet chore hai” and “SpiceJet haye haye” as Passengers Left Stranded for Hours

More than 100 passengers of two SpiceJet flights staged a protest at the Delhi airport as their flights, going to Dubai, faced extremely long delays due to operational glitches. The Delhi airport witnessed chaotic scenes with angry passengers raising slogans such as “SpiceJet chore hai” and “SpiceJet haye haye”
Flight Delayed for Hours
On September 14, 2026, Flight SG 5111, earlier scheduled for 7:45 am on Monday, was first rescheduled to 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Another flight, SG 5105, was scheduled to depart at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, but was rescheduled to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. However, both the flights did not depart till 2 pm, while SG 5111 finally departed at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, SG 5105 was again rescheduled to 1 a.m. on Wednesday.
“SpiceJet flights SG 5111 and SG 5105, operating from Delhi to Dubai, have been delayed due to operational reasons following the grounding of an aircraft,” a SpiceJet Spokesperson said.
Protests at Delhi Airport
Some passengers claimed that no official was earlier present to address the concerns for a long period, later coming in to provide food and accommodation.
Many passengers staged a sit-in protest at the Delhi airport, alleging that the officials were not facing or responding to the questions. Many videos also circulated online with protestors engaging in a heated exchange with airport officials, demanding accountability.
Compensation Provided
As the protests against delays started on Monday night, the airport staff provided food and water to the stranded passengers. Moreover, the airline spokesperson expressed regrets at the inconvenience caused due to the delays while assuring that alternate flights are being arranged to accommodate the affected passengers and every effort is being made to minimize the inconvenience caused.

Road Ahead
The latest disruption comes as SpiceJet is facing challenges related to its finances and operations. Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu has said that the civil aviation ministry and aviation regulator DGCA are closely monitoring the airline’s financials and operations.
